hey. not sure this is the right place. i’m ok, i just drink more than i should and work is getting hard
You’re in the right place, and I’m really glad you wrote. I’ve been there. No judgment — want to talk tonight after your shift?

What you tell us stays with the people helping you.

Is this you?

Still showing up. Still struggling.

Most of the help out there assumes you’ve lost everything. Still Standing is for the people who haven’t — and don’t intend to.

7 in 10 adults living with a substance use disorder have a job. You are not the exception — you’re most people.

70.4% of adults with an alcohol or drug use disorder are employed. Source: Frone et al., Occupational Health Science, 2022 (NSDUH data).

  • You still show up every day. Getting through the day is the hard part.
  • You’ve promised yourself you’ll cut back — and meant it.
  • You can’t vanish for thirty days without someone asking why.
  • You have insurance, but no idea what it covers or who to call.
  • Nobody would guess. That’s part of what makes it hard.
  • You’re worried about someone you love, and don’t know where to start.

How it works

Three steps. None of them is a waiting room.

  1. 1

    Tell us what’s going on.

One private message — by text, call or email, whichever feels safest. No judgment, no forms about your history, and nothing gets back to your work.

  2. 2

We find help that fits your life.

Your coach works out what your insurance covers (or what you qualify for without it) and lines up real options — evenings, online, around your shifts. No disappearing for a month.

  3. 3

    Someone stays with you.

A coach who’s been through it checks in and has your back — through treatment, back into your routine, and well after.

More on how it works →

A real person, not an app

Someone who’s been there, in your corner.

Your coach has lived it. Not a therapist, not a hotline, not a program — one person who knows the way through, and stays.

Navigate

Untangles your coverage and options — your own plan, Medi-Cal, charity care, a union fund — then finds care that fits a working life and helps you book it.

Accompany

Regular check-ins on your terms, from the first message through treatment and after. The human continuity every other system drops.

Fit it to work

Helps you think through time off if you need it, what to say at work and what you never have to, and getting back in — quietly.

Questions people ask first

The honest answers.

If yours isn’t here, ask it — that counts as reaching out.

All questions →
Will my employer find out?

Not from us. We never contact employers, and even when an employer or union helps fund our work, they never learn who reaches out. We don’t bill insurance, so nothing shows up on a claim. One tip: reach out from your personal phone, not a work computer or work Wi-Fi.

Does it cost anything?

No. It’s free, for everyone, start to finish. We’re a nonprofit funded by donations and grants, and we will never ask you for a card or your insurance details to talk to a coach.

Do I have to quit first?

No. You don’t have to have decided anything. Some people want to stop, some want to cut back, some just want to talk it through. Your coach starts where you are.

I haven’t “hit bottom.” Is this for me?

Yes — that’s exactly who it’s for. Most people who reach out are still working, still showing up, and quietly worried. You don’t need a crisis or a label to deserve help.

Is this AA? Is it treatment?

Neither. We’re not part of any program and we’re not a treatment center. A coach helps you understand your options — which might include treatment, medication, counseling, or groups like AA or SMART Recovery — and helps you get to the ones you choose. No pressure.

Ready when you are.

One private message. A coach who’s been there replies within one business day — by text, call or email, whichever you choose.

Free. Confidential. We never contact your employer.

Keep it free for the next person

Not everyone who’s struggling looks like it.

Plenty of people fighting drinking or drugs still clock in every day, pay the mortgage and keep it together — which is exactly why no one steps in, and why they go years without help. Your gift puts someone who’s been there in their corner. Free to them. Because of you.
