Privacy
Your privacy, in plain English.
People come to us about something they’re keeping private. We built this site — and the way we work — around that.
Last updated October 2026.
The short version
- We never contact your employer or your insurer.
- We don’t sell, rent or trade information about anyone — ever.
- This site loads nothing from third parties except our payment processor, Stripe, and only on the donate page. It measures its own use with first-party analytics, described below.
- We ask only for what we need to reach you or to process a gift.
If you reach out
We receive what you type in the form: the message (if any), the name or nickname you give (if any), how you’d like us to contact you and the number or address for it, whether a voicemail is OK, the time of day you prefer, and your time zone. It’s stored on secure servers and seen only by the coaches and staff helping you. Your coach keeps private notes so you don’t have to repeat yourself.
We keep this for as long as we’re helping you, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
When we might share without your permission
Only when the law requires it — for example, a court order — or when we believe it’s necessary to prevent a serious and imminent threat to someone’s safety. We will never share it with an employer, an insurer, a funder or a sponsor.
Texts
If you choose text, we’ll text you only about your note. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time and we’ll stop.
If you give
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card or bank details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers. We receive your name, email, the amount, and any dedication you add, so we can send your receipt and keep the records charities are required to keep. If you ask to give anonymously, we won’t name you publicly or on a tribute card.
Donation records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require (generally seven years).
Visiting this site
Like any website, our servers record basic technical information about each request — such as the address your device connected from, your browser type, and which page was requested — to keep the site running and secure. These logs are deleted automatically after 90 days.
We also measure how the site is used, with our own analytics served from this site: the pages viewed, the links and buttons clicked, which form fields are used (never what you type into them), how you arrived (including any ad or campaign link you followed), your device and browser, and your approximate location from your connection. It keeps an identifier in a first-party cookie and in your browser’s storage so we can recognize a returning browser. It doesn’t identify you by name, and it is never shared with an employer or insurer.
Fonts and images are served from our own servers, so loading a page doesn’t tell anyone else you were here.
Quick exit
The Quick exit button (or pressing Esc three times) immediately replaces this page with a neutral website. It can’t erase your browser history — for that, use a private or incognito window, or clear your history afterward. Your own phone, off work Wi-Fi, is the most private way to reach us.
Who helps us run things
We use a small number of service providers who process information only on our behalf: Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage and email) and Stripe (payments). They may not use it for anything else.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@stillstandingrecovery.org.
