Our story

Built for the people nobody notices.

Almost every recovery service is designed around the moment everything falls apart. We started Still Standing for the long stretch before that — when you’re still at work, still functioning, and quietly running out of road.

Our mission

To give every working person who’s struggling with drinking or drugs a free, confidential way to get a handle on it — with someone who’s been there, in their corner the whole way — without losing their job, their privacy, or their life.

The name is the point. Plenty of people are still standing: still clocking in, still paying the bills, still showing up for their kids. That’s not proof they’re fine. It’s proof of how hard they’re working to hold it together — and it’s exactly why help should reach them now, not after the fall.

What we believe

Five things we won’t compromise on.

  1. 01

    Free means free.

Nobody is priced, screened by income, or asked for a card. The person who can’t spare a dime and the person who could write a check get exactly the same help.

  2. 02

    Privacy first.

We never contact employers or insurers, and we ask only for what we need to reach you.

  3. 03

    Lived experience.

Our coaches have been through it. That’s the qualification people trust — and the one that gets a scared person to say the first true thing.

  4. 04

    Start where people are.

No labels, no ultimatums, no “come back when it’s worse.” Cutting back is a valid goal. So is just talking.

  5. 05

    Connect, don’t compete.

We’re not a treatment center. We help people reach the care that fits — and we stay with them while they do.

Still Standing Recovery is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation (501(c)(3) application in progress). Governance and finances: transparency.

Ready when you are.

One private message. A coach who’s been there replies within one business day — by text, call or email, whichever you choose.

Free. Confidential. We never contact your employer.

Keep it free for the next person

Not everyone who’s struggling looks like it.

Plenty of people fighting drinking or drugs still clock in every day, pay the mortgage and keep it together — which is exactly why no one steps in, and why they go years without help. Your gift puts someone who’s been there in their corner. Free to them. Because of you.
